Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) are made from a combination of polypropylene, straw, and coconut fibers. TRMs are designed for critical slope and channel applications requiring permanent erosion control and turf reinforcement. Turf reinforcement mats combine vegetative growth and synthetic materials to form a high strength mat that helps prevent soil erosion in drainage areas and on steep slopes.
Turf reinforcement mats are designed for applications requiring permanent erosion control for over 36 months.

TE-P42 – 100% Polypropylene Fiber
TE-P42 TRM is made of 100% polypropylene fiber and is available in green or tan. This TRM meets all requirements established in the FHWA FP-03 as a Type 5 A, B and C turf reinforcement matting for use on slopes with gradients up to 0.5:1 (h:v), channels, and shorelines.
TE-PC42 – 67% Polypropylene Fiber and 33% Coconut Fiber
TE-PC42 TRM is manufactured from a composition of 67% polypropylene fiber and 33% coconut fiber stitched between a black UV stabilized polypropylene top net with a mesh size of 1.34 x 1.27 cm (0.53 x 0.5 in) and a black UV stabilized polypropylene bottom net with a mesh size of 1.59 x 1.59 cm (0.626 x 0.626 in). The “PC” and “4” represent the polypropylene and coconut fiber applied at a minimum of 400 g/m2 (0.75 lbs/yd2 ) and the “2” represents that the mat is netted on the top and bottom sides
TE-PS42 – 7% Polypropylene Fiber and 33% Agricultural Straw
TE-PS42 TRM is manufactured from a composition of 67% polypropylene fiber and 33% agricultural straw stitched between a black UV stabilized polypropylene top net with a mesh size of 1.34 x 1.27 cm (0.53 x 0.5 in) and a black UV stabilized polypropylene bottom net with a mesh size of 1.59 x 1.59 cm (0.626 x 0.626 in). Higher Performance Option
PYRAMAT®75 is a high-performance turf reinforcement mat (HPTRM) made of woven polypropylene geotextile. In comparison to the standard TRMs, Pyramat®75 HPTRM, is designed with a patented X3® Fiber Technology making it three-dimensional and lofty. It is specially engineered for superior erosion control on steep slopes and vegetated waterways and is also the only HPTRM to have a verified carbon footprint. From cradle-to-grave, the carbon footprint of 1m2 of PYRAMAT®75 HPTRM is 2.7 kgCO2e, which is up to 30 times lower that concrete and rock alternatives.
Whereas standard TRMs typically have a performance life of 3 years (36 months), Pyramat®75 performs up to 75 years. Its woven construction is stronger and more durable than traditional TRMs and its X3® Fiber Technology helps lock in seeds and promote rapid root mass development. It is ideal for use in a vegetative turf mat facing system in the construction of MSE walls.
